The Challenge of the Gods

This challenge focuses on 3 simple things: No Death, No Save, Single Segment. To my knowledge, it has never been done before...
I thought it would be great and practical to have a place where we can keep track of who makes it the furthest cause there are a few people running this now...

So, these are the rules:

​- New Game, Master Ninja (all weapons level 1 file is not allowed)
- No Saving allowed at any point (checkpoints are not allowed either)
- No Game Over Screen (Talismans are allowed)
- No returning back to the main menu
- Karma Window Displayed
- Must be Single Segment
- No Invincibility Glitch
- No Out of Bounds
- No weapon menu glitches (clipping through walls that aren’t considered out of bounds)
- Despawns are allowed
- Healing from Statues is allowed
- VIDEO OR IT DID NOT HAPPEN

Back when DigitalT came up with this challenge, i told him that if I ever were to complete it,
i would try it again, but with 'No Despawn' rules... I should have just kept my mouth shut haha...
Well here we are, so i made some extra rules for a 'No Despawn' run of this challenge...
These are the extra rules:

The Challenge of the Gods - No Despawn
( aka The Challenge of the Thousand Gods ... )

- No Despawn (accidental despawning will be tolerated, see more below)
- Despawning while farming is NOT allowed (farming without despawning any enemies is allowed)
- No Boss KO Loop Exploit (This means looping the boss during a knockdown is not allowed)
- Using Genshin's body to fight Elizébet is NOT allowed

This run requires an IMMENSE understanding of the despawns in this game...
I think everybody playing this game extensively will agree with me that playing this without
despawning at least a couple of enemies is next to impossible. Sometimes enemies even despawn
themselves, so if for example an enemy throws Ryu out of the arena and a despawn occurs,
it will be tolerated... Tho it must be said that everybody attempting this MUST at least have
decent knowledge of the despawn areas, there will be no tolerance for walking to a despawn
and saying: "i didn't know they despawn there"
So pls, be familiar with despawn points and an average of enemy numbers...
In case you have to kill ranged enemies and do not have arrows, a despawn will be tolerated
if the next shop/arrow corpse is too far away. It happened to me and i didn't take that possibility
into account earlier, so yeah, it will be tolerated. Also, F**K the last fish pond, nobody needs to
do that...
The boss rule is for the following reason: its clearly a bug.

There won't be a Leaderboard for this run (for now) because of a lack of players... Obviously

Yes, if u die (game over screen) at ANY point, u start the whole game over.. talismans are allowed tho.
No save allowed, anywhere, not even boss checkpoints

Despawning is allowed, so far nobody has attempted the rod of trials fight... We try to despawn as little as possible tho... For example, skip the talons to not make the rod fight spawn, and instead just fight some mages and IS ninja near the cherry tree... Despawning also is less essence so its a delicate balance... Very stressful haha... I would love to watch u give it a try on stream ;-)

Haha, well, depends on what u mean by "no cheese" cause despawning is allowed... But it is hard enough as it is...

I am tempted to give this a go, sounds like a blast honestly. I'm not streaming right now but would still be able to record it. This is dangerously close to the kind of run that could pull me right back in to what I'm stepping away from right now but it'd be cool to get one done.

I cannot believe what i am sying now, but i actually did it yesterday...
it was a 12 h run and my PC crashed in the middle of it during the stream and that is also why my karma score is a lil different in the next vid, and i know that many of u will maybe say its not legit now, but i know what happened and all the people in my chat know what happened, so i am ok with that! Also worth mentioning is that the first couple hours are very laggy due to my internet provider doing whatever he wants, so pls excuse the lag, it gets better later in the run, so again, sry for that...

Can confirm, watched most of it live and the run is fully legit in my eyes. Was there when the PC crashed. I don't think I've ever been as terrified when you went up against Liz and Zed near the end. When you fell into the lava, fuck me that was tense.

Honestly never thought this would be possible. Only game that hasn't been zero-deathed now of this calibur would be Vanquish on God Hard I think (single segment). Seriously man, fantastic job. One thing that I did find interesting was that your stream was the first time someone got to chapter 5, and immediately that was the winning run. Showing that the game's hardest parts really are the first 3-4 chapters imo, which is what I've always felt.

Again: golden run, you should be proud!

I just uploaded a little compilation video on YouTube, but i do not plan to upload the full 12h run, since i can only upload 15 min videos and because the run is already on twitch, everybody can just watch it there ;-) i linked it in the compilation video as well... And the first 3 hours are unwatchable anyway because of lag... A real shame but it is what it is...

Btw, i updated the rules for a 'No Despawn' run of this challenge, since i am practicing that right now... I just wanted to make some things clear that might raise some questions...

Well, what can i say... I completed the The Challenge of a Thousand Gods as well haha... I just finished it and I am way too tired to say anything epic right now haha... i linked my run in my initial post, just above the leaderboard if anyone is interested... DONE
